Impact of Cover Crops and Nitrogen Management on Soil Bacterial Alpha Diversity

چکیده

Corn (Zea mays L.) nitrogen (N) strategies that account for fertilizer timing and source may differentially affect soil bacterial communities require further validation when preceded by cover crops (CC). Field studies were conducted (2014–2016) evaluating the effects of daikon radish [Raphanus sativus (L.)], forage oat [Avena sativa no CC combined with multiple N management on alpha diversity metrics. Nitrogen consisted 179 kg ha−1 applied pre-plant incorporated (PPI), poultry litter (PL) (61 ha−1) PPI plus sidedress (SD) at V11 (11 leaf collars), starter (45 5 cm beside below furrow followed SD V4 (4 V11, or 50:50 (split) a zero control. In 1 2 years, reduced 47–53% during active growth compared to remaining treatments. Inverse relationships regarding in-row (IR) soils R1 (silking) grain yield indicated increased did not correspond production. Relative PL zero-N control, rhizosphere diversity, evenness, richness. Combining organic soluble sources stabilize changes metrics corn silking.

Tillage, cover crops, and nitrogen fertilization effects on soil nitrogen and cotton and sorghum yields

Sustainable soil and crop management practices that reduce soil erosion and nitrogen (N) leaching, conserve soil organic matter, and optimize otton and sorghum yields still remain a challenge. We examined the influence of three tillage practices (no-till, strip till and chisel till), four cover rops {legume [hairy vetch (Vicia villosa Roth)], nonlegume [rye (Secaele cereale L.)], vetch/rye bicu...

Soil nitrate testing supports nitrogen management in irrigated annual crops

Soil nitrate (NO3) tests are an integral part of nutrient management in annual crops. They help growers make field-specific nitrogen (N) fertilization decisions, use N more efficiently and, if necessary, comply with California’s Irrigated Lands Regulatory Program, which requires an N management plan and an estimate of soil NO3 from most growers. As NO3 is easily leached into deeper soil layers ...

mulching and cover crops effects on the soil and rhizosphere-associated bacterial communities in field experiment

agricultural sustainability is closely related with the efficient use of natural resources, which are primarily transformed by the action of microorganisms. soil microorganisms are usually used as early indicators of soil quality since they rapidly respond to changes in soil management. a field experiment was carried out aiming to evaluate the effect of siratro (macroptylium atropurpureum), bah...

Influence of Cover Crops on Populations of Soil Nematodes

Wang, Q., Y. Li, Z. Handoo, and W. Klassen. 2007. Influence of cover crops on populations of soil nematodes. Nematropica 37:79-92. A pot experiment was carried out in south Florida to elucidate suppressive or antagonistic effects of several cover crops grown in rotation on soil nematode populations. The crops were two marigolds, Tagetes patula L. ‘Dwarf Double French Mix’ (MDF), and Tagetes pat...

Effects of Altitude and Soil Properties on Alpha and Beta Diversity in Plour Rangelands of Mazandaran

Biodiversity is one of the important aspects of natursal systems which supports ecosystem functions. Therefore, the preservation of biodiversity is necessary for human well-being. The curreny study aimed to investigate changes of alpha and beta diversity and its components along the elevation gradient of five classes and to evaluate the effects of physical and chemical characteristics of soil o...
